MAC MENU BAR APP · OBS PLUGIN

Put anyone on your show. No studio, no account, no middleman.

Callin is a tiny Mac menu-bar app that connects two people camera-to-camera and drops the other person straight into OBS as a source. Send a code, they send theirs, you're live.

THE PROBLEM

Getting a guest onto a live stream usually means a browser tab, a third-party service, an account for both of you, and a window capture that looks like a window capture. Callin replaces all of that with a code and a menu-bar icon.

How it works

  1. 01

    Pick your camera and mic

Callin lives in the menu bar. Choose your devices there and watch the preview and the audio meter move before you go anywhere near a stream.

  2. 02

    Swap codes

Copy your connect code, send it however you like. Paste theirs into the Remote field and press Return. The menu-bar badge turns green when the call is up.

  3. 03

    Go live in OBS

Add a Callin Guest source. The other person appears as clean video and audio, ready to frame, crop, key and mix like any other source.

Features

Peer to peerVideo and audio travel directly between the two Macs. Nothing is routed through a server and there is nothing to sign up for.
Works on any networkCallin uses STUN to find a path through home routers, office NAT and hotel Wi-Fi, without port forwarding.
A real OBS sourceNot a window capture and not a capture card. The guest arrives as a native async video and audio source via the plugin.
Both directionsCall into someone else's show, or have them call into yours. The app is the same on both ends.
Small address bookKeep the people you call regularly one click away. It is a local file on your Mac, not a cloud.
Stays out of the wayA square feed, two pickers, a meter and two codes. Everything else is in Settings.
Native MacBuilt with SwiftUI. Hardware H.264 encoding and Opus audio. Launches at login if you want it to.
WHO IT'S FOR

Podcasters bringing on a co-host. Streamers taking a call from chat. Small newsrooms patching in a correspondent. Anyone who wants a guest on screen in under a minute without a subscription.

WHAT IT ISN'T

Callin is a two-person link, not a conference room. It does not record, it does not run a relay, and it won't connect two people who are both behind the strictest kind of corporate NAT. For everything else, it just works.

PRIVACY

Nothing passes through us

The call runs between the two machines on it. We are not on the line, and there is no line to be on.

  • No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry and no servers of ours.
  • Peer-to-peer media. Your video and audio go to the other party and nowhere else.
  • Contacts stay on your Mac. The address book is a local file, not a cloud.
  • The OBS bridge is loopback-only. It listens on your own machine and nowhere else.
  • App Sandbox, with only the camera, microphone and network entitlements the job needs.
