macOS menu-bar app
QuickStream
A launcher for classic games that lives in your Mac's menu bar. Click the arcade stick, pick a cover, and it configures the engine and launches the game for you — windowed or full screen — so a quick break between takes doesn't turn into ten minutes of fiddling with settings. Drop in a mod and it becomes a cover of its own. QuickStream ships no game data. No WAD, PAK or GRP files come with it and it never downloads any: it is a fast front-end for engines and game files you already own, sat on your own disk. Nothing leaves your Mac — there is no network code in the app at all.
What it does
- One click from the menu bar: pick a cover, it sets the engine up and launches.
- Windowed or full screen, so you can drop back to what you were doing.
- Drag your own game files onto the panel; mod files become a new cover automatically.
- Covers ship for the classics, and stay dimmed until the matching game data is in place.
- Bring your own engines and your own game files — QuickStream never downloads either.
Still in the workshop — there is nothing to download today. Follow the changelog if you want to know the day it lands.
