An old-school tape deck that lives in your Mac's menu bar and plays SomaFM. Click the cassette, flick through the station list — every SomaFM channel is there, with seven starred out of the box — and press play. Album art lands on the J-card, the transport clunks the way a late-70s deck did, and there's no account, no ads and no Dock icon. Half of every sale goes straight to SomaFM, who are listener-funded and have been since 2000.
What it does
- Every SomaFM channel from the menu bar, favourites first — no account, no ads, no Dock icon.
- Now-playing and cover art on the cassette's J-card; click through to the track's music video.
- Two skins: a flat cassette (light and dark) and an always-dark tape deck with a working transport.
- Streams at the highest quality SomaFM publishes, up to 320 kbps.
- A privacy switch that keeps every request on somafm.com — that promise is enforced in code.
- Pro version planned.
