Two Months in One Go — Five App Pages, Hand-Drawn Card Art, an' a Blog Next Door
Right, confession time: t'changelog went quiet for two months while t'work didn't. So this is a catch-up entry, not a day's entry. Headline is that t'apps row on t'homepage is now a proper shop window. HumbleWATCHES got its landin' page an' went on sale for a tenner, an' then Microcast, Apartment Defrag, Callin an' TimeBlocks each got their own page an' all — designed properly, imported in, an' wrapped in t'usual site chrome. Four ideas that were nowt but a name got hidden 'til they're summat, an' cards can now say PAUSED when a thing's on t'shelf, 'stead o' pretendin'.
T'cards themselves got a right makeover. Every experiment card now has hand-drawn artwork in t'site's own palette — no text baked in, nowt generated by a robot — an' each one's got a light-mode twin so t'art swaps wi' t'theme 'stead o' glarin'. Apps show their real icons on t'plate. Sat behind that: t'hero logo now picks from a pool o' six on each load, light mode always shows t'retro one, an' dark mode's t'default for everybody. T'about card's links became tidy pill chips wi' proper tap targets, an' there's a new blog at blog.humbleha.us — separate site, written from a notes app, linked from t'about card an' t'feeds.
Under t'bonnet it were busier still. A full security audit o' t'codebase turned up a batch o' tidy-ups (all shipped, none o' 'em bein' picked at). T'site now backs itself up nightly to a box in t'cupboard wi' a written restore runbook, an' there's a daily watchdog on t'TLS certificate after it quietly expired one mornin' in July an' took t'lot down for a bit. T'daily PageSpeed check got split in two so it can't time out halfway through any more, an' t'changelog you're readin' got monthly archive pages an' per-entry links, ready for a lot more o' these.
- HumbleWATCHES on sale — landin' page live, eight verified feature blurbs (cut a couple that weren't true yet), price wired into t'live "per month" ribbon on t'card.
- Four more app pages — Microcast, Apartment Defrag, Callin an' TimeBlocks each got a designed landin' page, their own favicon an' share card, an' a privacy page where one's needed. None o' t'"buy" buttons lie: where there's nowt to buy yet, t'button says so.
- Hand-drawn card art, both themes — all ten experiment cards got bespoke artwork wi' a light-mode twin; app cards show t'real app icon. T'build got taught not to clobber hand-made art wi' generated placeholders, after it did exactly that for ten minutes one afternoon.
- Homepage polish — six-logo hero rotation, dark mode by default, pill-chip about links, a "latest stuff" strip under t'stream slider wi' a scrollable row o' recent videos, an' prev/next arrows on t'sponsor row.
- A blog, an' a machine-readable site map —
blog.humbleha.uslaunched as its own static site, an' t'main site gained anllms.txtso agents an' crawlers can find t'apps, feeds an' support links wi'out scrapin'. - Backups an' a cert watchdog — nightly whole-site backup to t'Pi wi' a tested restore path, plus a daily check that t'certificate isn't about to expire, born o' t'July outage.
- Security audit shipped — webhook payloads scrubbed o' personal details, a lock-out fix, tighter escapin' on t'cards an' t'filter bar, rate limits on t'sales webhook, an' t'feed entry ids pinned so nobody's reader shows old posts as new.
- Speed kept honest — AI Token Calc's slider drag went from a full re-render per pixel to one per drag; t'PageSpeed cron runs as a background job now so it finishes every time. Every monitored page is sat at or above its threshold this mornin'.
